A woodland or forest, in my opinion, is one of the best places to be and it’s where I love to go looking for fungi. Fungi help to break down organic mater, maintain soil health and of course, are important ingredients in making bread, wine, beer and some cheeses. The mushrooms below are the spore-bearing fruiting bodies of fungi.

I never imagined spending so much time photographing something that doesn’t move! But fungi can be massively time consuming. Trying to find a specimen in good condition is half the battle, then comes tidying the area without causing damage and then composition and lighting. It becomes easy to lose track of the time when your are foraging amongst the moss and fallen leaves, but it’s worth it.
